What’s happening to photos

The photos stored in Firebase have exceeded the 5 GB storage limit of the free Spark plan. Photos can still be uploaded, but they can no longer be downloaded from Firebase again. This means they cannot be restored if you sign in on a new device or clear the app’s data on your current device.

I tried to move the project to the paid Blaze plan to resolve this. Doing so requires a bank card issued outside Russia. During setup, Google requests a $50 charge. This is more than I can afford, and there is no guarantee that the card will be accepted or that photo sync will resume after payment. For now, I can’t safely enable the paid plan.

What you should do

- Save the photos currently available on your device to your phone’s gallery using “Save photos” in the warning banner on the home screen.
- If you’ve closed the banner, tap the exclamation-mark icon in the home-screen toolbar to show the warning again.
- Stay signed in and don’t clear the app’s data. Otherwise, locally stored photos may become unavailable, and they can’t be downloaded from Firebase again.
- Photos will not automatically appear in the app on a new device, even if you transfer them to that device’s gallery. The gallery copy is a backup for keeping and accessing your photos outside the app.
